• after the war
The Battle of Hogwarts took place just months ago and with it, the end of Voldemort's second reign of terror. Magical creatures are scarcely found around the United Kingdom and Muggleborns are nearly depleted in numbers. Purebloods are almost just as bad off, as it would seem Halfbloods survived the best in odds.

After much debate with the new Ministry of Magic, new classes have been added and some old ones removed. The school has finally reopened after months of rebuilding, and students will return to hopefully rekindle the magical school to its former glory. Hogwarts will never be the same again, or will it? The new generation of students have arrived. The year 1998 will hopefully be a better year than the past few.

Sitting under what he deemed as his favorite tree, Aaron stuck his pinky in his right ear and made a face. It wasn't particularly cold out, nor was it too windy, but it always bothered him that he could hear the grass blowing on one side of his head by not the other. It was an odd sensation that he wished he could say he was used to, and yet, he wasn't.  Flipping through some pages of his Transfiguration and Potions books, he placed his left pointer on some of the words that he had made a mention to himself to review.

Using just one hand to flip the pages and keep them down from the slight wind billowing through was trifling, so he took the finger out of his ear and shivered as the insane feeling crept into his bones again. Having been half-deaf all his life, he wondered how strange it would be to someone if one of their ears had stopped working. After all, how could he express the remorse at only being able to hear the rush of the wind, the babbling of the lake, and other students frolicking in the grass on one side of his head. While the other side simply received nothing like a silent movie?

Shrugging to himself, he held his books down with both hands and proceeded to immerse himself in the magical world he was lucky to be a part of.
