Alex grinned as she skipped through Diagon Alley. She probably looked like an idiot. Not that she cared when it was raining! Oh yeah, she was so mature. Well, she was a lot more mature then a year ago at least. While she skipped, she missed a little bit of water on the street and felt herself slipping like she was on skates. Very unbalanced ones. "That SO wasn't good" she muttered then looked up. "Quidditch" she smiled and stared into the window.

"You're soaking wet." Riven muttered beside her, equally soaked through the bone with his hair over his eyes, dripping onto his skin and rolling down to his jaw and over his neck to his long sleeved shirt. He was looking at her though and not the quidditch supplies. "Not hat I'm complaining." He smirked.

''Way to state the obvious, Riven. Way to state the obvious." Alex muttered back, her eyes glazed over as she checked out the new Nimbus 2001. Frowning, she turned to him and pushed her hair out of her face, 'Why would you be complaining if I am wet?" Before her eyes widened and her mouth dropped into an 'O'. Smacking him lightly, she turned back to admire the supplies.

"Hey, it's not my fault clothes can be see through sometimes." Riven shrugged and he let out a low chuckle at the double implications of what she said. He watched as the sky darkened and he pushed the door open for her. "Com on, it's getting stronger."

"I am not commenting, am I?" Alex replied pointedly, before zipping her jacket up. It was abotu two sizes bigger than her but she still insisted on wearing ti and always managed to retrieve it from her mum. "Yeah. Even though I like rain, its getting a little bit too much." She added, pushing the door and hurrying inside.

"Just get inside." Riven laughed.

Riven lingered outside when she shuffled in and the handles slipped from his hold so that the doors slammed shut. He stayed where his was as the curtain of rain started towards him and engulfed him entirely. He held a hand out to catch some drops.

Alex watched him from inside and rolled her eyes. Opening the doors and going back outside. "So that you can stick around and have all the fun? Unlikely." She answered his question from before, laughing at his attempts to catch the drops. "It works better with both hands." She suggested, bringing up his other hand and holding it next to the hand he had already extended out. "And cup them a little. Voila!"

"I wasn't trying to catch the drops." riven rolled his eyes in turn and he walked backwards, forcing her to get back inside and through the open doorway with him in tow. When the were inside, he let the door close and he spun around, letting drops of water fall to the floor. "And I wasn't having all the fun either."

"Stop trying to babysit me! I am twelve! And by the way, thank you for the birthday wishes." Alex snapped back sarcastically, as she was unceremoniously dragged back to inside. She was about to continue when her eyes fell on the Nimbus 2001 and her expression turned dreamy and of longing. "Oh! That's an awesome broom! I want it!"

"Birthday?" Riven repeated in a questioning tone and he let the word hang in the air until Alex's concentration fell on something else. He turned reluctantly to where she was facing and he let out a low sigh at the sight of the Nimbus. He knew he could get his father to buy one, but he hated owing his father anything.

He shrugged it off and smirked. "You going to buy one?"

"I will see. I mean, just because it looks like the most awesome broom in the world, it doesn't mean it has to be the most awesome broom in the world." Alex replied, reluctantly turning away from the broom and towards the other merchandise. 'Besides I am here to get a present for Dan, not buy something for myself."

"Dan who?" the name spike a wave of curiosity for Riven as he flipped through a quidditch book and he studied the content of a broom handling kit and he moved from object to another until he was back to his place beside her.

"Daniel Storm, my brother." Alex answered in a sigh as she randomly picked up stuff from the shelves and rejected it. "My mum has this brilliant idea that exchanging presents and buying presents fr each other would encourage bonding between us and since his birthday is in two weeks, I have to find him a present. It could have been worse, I suppose." She explained in a slightly doubtful voice, "She could have tried to make me bond with Stuart."

"I can only hope I can find something half as offensive as his birthday present for me." She muttered as she rejected almost everything in the shop.

"I can think of a few presents that could be offensive for you." Riven laughed as he picked out some random things along side her and put them back after a quick glance since nothing really caught his interest. "Like an empty bag of chips, a chocolate bar without any chocolate...loads of empty food containers. That sort of stuff."

"Ha ha ha." Alex shot back sarcastically, rolling her as she exaggerated her sadness so that her eyes widened and she looked like she was about to cry. Sniffing once to conceal her sniggering she explained, "It was worse, so much worse. He gave me a stuff toy of Oscar the Grouch adding the note, 'Just Like You!'." She didn't realize that Riven wouldn't know why she found it so offensive.
